I did not bump all of the featured artists' threads in the showcase this time because I didn't want to knock the newer ones off the front page. But if you listen, please leave a comment in the threads of the songs you like in the latest Prezcast. The links are provided in my first post.
The showcase is really humming lately; I'd like it to stay that way. C'mon, new guys! I need more material for my newbie appreciation segments!

Another great one. I listened to it all again, great job artists and Prez for putting it together.

Thanks for listening, friend! And for the comments as well.
I decided to bump the featured artist threads, but not all at once. This way, the new stuff willl hopefully not be drowned out. There's definitely a delicate balance to be maintained between old and new.

Man, I missed the Prezcast 5! Good thing I saw the post on this one! Prez, you are really getting comfy on these, you sound like a real pro broadcaster now! Great entertainment and some of the stuff on here I had missed. I've been a bit busy lately and hadn't been able to get in here every day lately so this is such a great way to catch up. Thanks again for doing them.
Thanks also for saying those nice things about my attempt at song writing. Maybe one of these days i will really live up to the compliments Bro, I feel a bit bewildered that I am even on the same podcast as some of the guys on here but thanks for the nice compliments. You have made an old beginner smile...
The "I ain't drunk" song is absolutely wonderful! I had to listen three times as I kept laughing while it was going on and missing stuff. Heck, i took almost 3 hours to listen to the whole podcast, I kept "rewinding" to listen to stuff over again! What a talented bunch of folks we have on this site! Simply awe inspiring what some guys can do after a year or two of playing and some folks, as you so rightly pointed out, are just heads and tails over what I hear on the radio. Very cool podcast, i will be catching up on #5 after dinner tonight.
Thanks Prez...

Thanks for the comments JB.
I can assure you, I include your stuff because it is good. If someone can go through the trouble of recording something, I will consider featuring it. Your material passes muster easily.

Prez, is that a picture of you in the skulled black t shirt and long coat? I wouldn't want to run into you in a dark alley...unless I had a bottle of something you liked!
Prezcast....still, by far, my favorite part of JS. Didn't seem like that long since the last one to me. Worth the wait everytime.
Edit...It never ceases to amaze me how much music I miss in Showcase. These broadcasts are so helpful Prez, seriously man THANKS!!

Lol! That's Thomas Jane from the "Punisher" movie remake with John Travolta. I look more like Peewee Herman. My avatar is a comic strip art version of the Punisher. I like the idea behind "The Punisher" series in general. I like how the gloves come off when dealing with the lawbreaking cretins of society.
As always, Lazy Bee, I appreciate you taking the time to comment on my efforts. I love doing these and seeing more people noticing the Showcase entries.

Wow, excellent job Prez!
Honoured to be on the list with some of these amazing guys :D
Jimi Haynes' Break It Down has been one of my favourite songs for a LONG while now, glad to see it up there :p
All the guys on there are GREAT!
And you ARE becoming rather professional at this :p
Nice job man and we all owe you a LOT for what you've done for the Showcase, thanks man

You deserve your place among the other featured artists, Scott.
I don't know about "professional" but I'm starting to get the hang of it bit by bit. ;)
Thanks for listening!

Wow Prez I am floored, thanks for the words man. My daughter Jamie will listen to this tomorrow she will think Im really something! She says "I wanna play daddy but I want to get lessons from somebody who can play" with your voice maybe it will sink in. Thanks bro.
And to be sitting with all the other amazing tunes everybody has done, wow I guess I have been missing out on some of these. My only problem is going after John Burr's "Go Ahead and Cry" that guys a hard act to follow! Thank God I had Fruitloop with me.

LOL! My son still can't get over how his 'uncool' dad can do such a cool thing like play guitar. I'll email your daughter and fill her in on just how much you can play if you want!

wow, I can't believe I'm featured on the prestigious Prez cast! With the legends like Scott and mishmannah??? Wow! And that "civil war" cover is the least possible song I thought I'll be featured. Thanks, Prez.

No problem shredding.
Typically, I pick songs that help give me a decent variety to my 'cast. Your GnR cover filled the gap for hard rock nicely. Don't worry - I plan on highlighting more of your work in the future. ;)

I think alot of it has to do with the fact they see us do it from their birth, no biggy to them, but she is only 10 ( I didn't start till 13) so I am not rushing her just planting seeds. One little trick I started using yesterday was using master yoda's voice and likening the guitar to becoming a Jedi knight, "Try not. Do or do not, there is no try, sense in you the force is strong young Jamie " She was giggling and blushing :rotf: I am no Starwars feak but we have watched them all many times.
Jamie listened yesterday and all I can say it was a great moment. Thanks for offering the email but your voice did the trick. You need to listen to these members when they say you have a gift at this.
The local NPR station has a blues show on the weekends and I would put you right in this guys league, he has a cool mellow way of doing it much like you.

Prez, thanks for the work you put into this. This is THE BEST show on the airwaves!
Ever listened to Little Steven's (Van Zandt) Underground Garage? (an uber cool show on the radio that features underground classic rock) I honestly think Prezcast could give Little Steven a run for his money.
Awesome work!

Pezcast had become my background music choice on bill paying days and now... whenever I'm re stringing or organizing my jam room I listen.
This was my second take on #6. The appreciation and dedication you have for the music presented by JS members really sunk in today Prez. I had allways "gotten" it, (I thought) but it really clobbered me just now, how commited you are man. Making the time to listen like you do is pretty impressive, and then to package so much of it for us....kind of at a loss of words here.
Pretty cool brother!!!

Wow. I am at a loss for words at your kind comments, LB! It's true; I have a special love of Showcase music. I had become so bitter and so completely disenchanted with the abysmal state of modern music that I had virtually given up listening to everything. It was Jam Session, not MTV, not satellite radio, not the RIAA, that revitalized my love of music. That alone speaks volumes about the value this website provides. I feel compelled to share that love AND encourage people to keep posting in the showcase, regardless of their skill level.
Man, this is the coolest thing ever. It makes me feel like JS has hit the big time! Thanks so much for taking the time to do this Prez.
Your very welcome, my friend. Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment!

You know Prez, i know just what you mean about modern commercial music. It seems so "perfect" in it's production that it has lost the "Feel" music really needs. It's sort of like the musicians are just sound machines that the engineers use to get samples that they assemble into perfect little songs that are probably ordered carte blanch by a record exec based on some secret marketing formula. Mindless drivel more often than not.
I listen to the stuff here and I listen to soundclick for hours and hours every week hearing music that is being performed and produces and often written with no real profit motive at all entirely by the musicians themselves. It has soul and feeling and a sense of life in it. It's not always perfect production wise but I always loved "Live" albums anyway.
I have a Rhapsody subscription too, i listen to stuff on there when someone mentions a song or group I haven't heard in a while or just don;t know. For just plain listening enjoyment I would rather hear some amateur pouring his heart into his music and sharing it for no other reason than, well, he just HAS to! We all get that, we have something to say musically and we want to share it. I think very few of us are into becoming serious recording stars or making much money on our recorded music. We might make some shekels playing live but as far as selling records most folks on here aren't going to sell out to the establishment that way I don't think.
Nothing wrong with a guy like Willie writing a few new songs and putting out a couple of albums just to pay the IRS but the music being done just to make music, to me it's got something about it that just stirs my soul...

real life has been intruding BIG TIME
This is an understatement!!!
What you've done for the Showcase music is outstanding. Thank you for your time and effort in putting this together. If real life has intruded upon you as much as it has me lately, I don't know how you do it. Thanks for the bump also and putting me in the Prezcast. You're hard work with these cast's are greatly appreciated!

Finally was able to listen to the whole thing today without any distractions. Excellent bro' Prez!
Some of the work in there is just sick!
Thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks!
Nice words about getting folks involved, as well.
Great job and props to all the players featured! Excellent work, I appreciate the time an effort it takes to not only play, but record, edit, upload and ultimately link these tracks for us. Thanks to the players!

John Burr - you and I are definitely on the same page there!! I couldn't have said it any better.
JimiHaynes - I was only too happy to include your excellent funkadelic tune in the show. I had a BLAST listening to that one, and I know many others did as well. Thank YOU for making it. Thanks for listening and for the kind words!
Bkent - thanks for the listen and the comments. It's amazing how much talent is on display here. I'm still working on becoming as good a Bluesman as you. I've got a ways to go, though. :)
