I'm currently building a Fat Strat at home, she works fine, yet the action is too high. My hand cramps bad while playing. Could anyone tell me how I would go about lowering it?

(By the way, this is my first project)

Thanks.

sure!this is very common!to lower the action, dont touch the truss rod!!!!look at the saddles at the bridge, and you'll see two little screws on each.you can turn them to lower the action at the bridge and also, you can use a small file to carefully, slowly file down the string grooves at the nut.someone posted a great article link for helping action recently, ill see if i can dig it out.

Since you said it was your first project........maybe the neck needs to be shimmed? Think of the neck as a perfectly level object. Sometimes you need to bring the base of the neck where it meets the body out a touch to bring the strings closer and the action more playable.
