I recently started playing again after a 30 year break. ("Bass Guitar").Music has changed, but especially the styles. This time around, im taking it much more serious. The music of choice is classic rock (70's) & bluesy rock. i find myself having to learn all over again. im at a point where i feel I should start jamming with others for practical experience. I only know a FEW SONGS ALL THE WAY THROUGH, lIKE 'BADGE' BY CREAM, AND A COUPLE jAMES GANG TUNES. I have takin a few lessons recently to refresh . I read Tab but I need to run through it several times before it sticks. It took me two weeks to learn all the bass rifts from Badge practicing 2 hours per day . I also practice scales and blues rifts. I would like to JAM OR START A GROUP FOR PRACTICING PURPOSES initially. Question,,,,,, Should I keep playin on my own or should i try to put together a small group, for practicing and possible...... (experience at my level), and how would i go about this?

I think you should keep practicing and learning songs, but also start putting out some feelers. There are probably lots of people around who are at a similar level and wouldn't mind getting together to learn a few songs and mess around.

One thing you could do is look up some of the guitar teachers in your area and see if they have any students who they think should be getting together with a bass player.

Try asking around at the local music stares too.

I don't know how you bass players actually learn songs. Every time I try to hear some of those bass riffs, I cant hear anything unless I walk out of the room and close the door.
