I was aobut 16, but none have been real bands that have done anything more than a couple of gigs. I have had two paying gigs, if you don't count the times I have been given free dinners or chocolate cookies. Now I am 18, and ready for a real band, that will rock this world to its knees, mwa hahahaha

Drummers are hard to find and singers are hard to live with.

Amen, best quote I've seen in a while...Thank God we have a decent drummer that is motivated to work hard and get the whole band working hard. We used to have a crappy singer that was hard to live with, now we have a good singer that is hard to live with. Is that progress? I wish he would show up for practice, and on time too.

Band???
Is that some new fangled way of making music? I guess that I'm way behind the curve at 41. Maybe I'm thinking in the wrong direction for a career.

Seriously, So far I have not gone in that direction. I am 3/4 of the way done with my first CD and am still not there as far as comitting to a band. There have been advantages to giong this way to start with. After writing a group of songs and then hiring studio musicians to play parts I don't have to deal with some of those headaches. Except for the singer who is a major pain in the butt any way you look at it. Not to mention that I typically get my way about how the sound comes out. Well, minus where my producer says change it things seem to be going well. I do have a Lead Guitarist and a Bassest that will commit to a band should any interest come from the CD but I worry a lot about the whole thing.

This brings me to a question for Mr. SDragon. Is my approach to this endeavor maybe detrimental to a musical future?

I certainly hope not... I'm pretty much doing the same thing http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/eek.gif

I've never started a band. But I was 14 when I joined ( was forced ) my first band.
I was the bassist for my grandads Pentecost church band. He shoved a bass in my hands because I knew some things about guitar.
Between the " Amens " and the " Praise Gods " noone ever noticed when I screwed up...except my grand-pa. He could always tell.
I'm 35 now and have not been in any bands since then.

I'm starting a band, I know a drummer (he sucks), and I'm a guitarist (passable... http://www.streamload.com/Download/AccessNodes.asp?tab=stuff&155130182=1 ), now i just need a bass player, another guitar player (teaching a m8 of mine) and a singer. And preferably a third guitarist http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif

But first -- I need to learn music theory etc, I've put it off fer too long http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif
