Our bands leader is always stopping our practice so we can hang out with his annoying fan club (school friends) when we all rather play music.

ditto. I'd keep on playing. That would be the "nice" way to disagree with him. heheh.

Scott is right on. There's nothing else to do.

you could hire a hit... but that seems a bit drastic. So lets stick with keep playing

Me and my friend decided we're just going to tell him no next time he surprises us with his fan club. We'll ignore him and keep playing.

or dump him - sounds like he's a headcase narcissistic type - singer or lead guitar player\singer?

This is really the best solution. Either he'll get the hint or he won't.

This one is easy to solve, just start a new band and tell the band leader to hitch a ride to the desert.

This happened to me once, the band leader was scared to sing! He said he was the leader and could do anything he wanted. We kicked him out!! :toohappy:

There's a time and place for everything.

Someone should tell this guy that people who are not in the band should not be at rehearsals.

And if that doesn't work or can't work or he doesn't agree, then at least tell him that when said 'fan club' arrives, you guys need to keep rehearsing, and then he can greet the 'fan club' on the next break. If it's a 'fan club' they should shut up and listen in rapt attention -- they are lucky to see a rehearsal.

Yeah, just set some groundrules. There should not be any outside people at band practice, period. I refuse to allow it in my band for good reason. We don't need friends, girlfriends or anybody else wasting our time. Practice is not performing, and we're not putting on a show in our basement. If you want to see the band members play or just see them, do it another time.

Tell your bandleader to get with the program and quit inviting his personal Yokos to the practice. If he doesn't stop, pull a Paul Mccartney and assume leadership.

Amazing, I just made two Beatles refrences in one post.

So how does the rhythm player become leader - damn, rhythm players are a dime a dozen - warn him, dump him if does not change - in the mean time - start meeting other rhythm players

Uh, my two friends are real good at guitar, one is alot better so he's lead and our leader who formed the band plays rhythm.

When he stops practice and does his star/groupie routine, the rest of you should just start practice up again - without him. He'll either catch on or not. If not, a new leader will emerge.

The thing about making a band work is that everyone has to have pretty much the same objectives, be on the same page, about how the band should sound, what songs to play, etc. One of the keys to having a great band is for each member to put the needs of everyone else in the band -- ie, the band as a whole -- before their own. If he doesn't want to do that, and is more interested in his own stardom (yeah, right), then move on without him. A new leader will emerge and everyone will be happier for it.

ok how about this.........

without his knowing invite another rhythm guitar to practice, and when the "Superstar" 'tude shows up just keep on rockin!

Maybe he will see that he is easily replaced......

Just a thought.......
