I have a Richie Sambora Stratocaster with a Floyd Rose bridge. I rarely ever use the wang bar, most of the time I don't even bother to thread it on to the bridge, the floating bridge is more of a pain in the arse than a useful tool.

So I have decided to block the bridge. I still want to be able to push down on the bar to do dive bombs but I don't want to be able to pull up on the bar to make the strings go sharp. I am thinking about putting a block of wood between the inertia block and the body of the guitar but I'm curious to see if anyone has a better idea.

Buy a tremol-no or another tremolo setting device.

You can bodge it by blu-tacking an AAA battery into the cavity of the back. It doesn't block it completely... it just puts it into "dive only" mode. Obviously it's not gonna be as good as a proper device like the tremol-no but it's also a lot cheaper ;)
