Good drummers are tough to find. That's why the drum machine was invented.

Nothing can replace having a real live drummer who's got the groove. though.

I guess im kinda lucky....theres this kid that lives right down the road that can play a lotta blink 182 stuff (tough drum stuff! that travis barker has his bass pedal on steroids) hes awesome!!! but we need a good singer........and our bass player is always busy. on top of that im not that good at guitar so its almost like we are blink http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gifhttp://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gifhttp://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif lol

Our drummer is extremely heavy handed and so we have to play extremely loud at band practice. He is really good at using his double pedal. So he will do.

LOL we had a smiliar problem so we just played minimalist blues for a while til we acquired our decent drummer

put adverts up in your local music shops, the ones near me have notice boards just for this purpose

I'm firmly convinced that they're a dying breed. I might have to learn so I can at least record my stuff the way I want, it'd be easier and better than a drum machine... except then I wouldn't get to play my guirat as much. :(

Drums are easy(ish) to learn, get one of your mates to start and after a few months he should be able to keep a beat.

I'll bet there are a lot of people who WOULD play drums, if not for lack of a place to set them up and practice. Neighbors have a nasty habbit of complaining about noise.

I know of 2 drummers...one is a hard core...the other an attorney...either way they are both in demand. If you are that desparate, let me know and we can either jam together first, or make a presense with either of them.

LOL yeah drummers are always in demand. I think because when people find them, no one wants to let them go. I just started playing drums but I'm no where near Illinois. One of my old drummers taught me some basics a few years back and I always wanted to learn so when another drummer friend of mine was selling his set, I picked it up.

I'm not great but I can keep a beat :)

Another thought... many guitar stores have bulletin boards advertising muscians. but since it's a guitar store, there are guitarists looking for bands and bands looking for drummers...LOL
Stop into your local drum shop and have a look around on their boards you'll probably find a good handful of drummers looking for bands. You just have to go where the drummers go.

Drummers are tough to find. I say get 2 guitars and a bass, or say a guitar, bass and a keyboardist, you get the idea, and just go gig without a drummer. Then the drummers may come to you - and if not you're still gigging man!

I hate drum machines. Avoid them like the plauge IMO.

I tried drums once, man I cnt' seem to keep a beat on the symbol while on the snare and bass, unless I go reallllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyy slowwww. Yeah!

Sorry about your drummer prob, I guess I was blessed cause my best friend plays drums really good.

Yea i play drums... probably better than guitar. Ironically the most in demand around here is a good bassist though... and thats the one thing i dont play :(

hello people,
i was reading this thread and i have some advice for you.
1st drummers and bassists as we all know are in higher demand than guitarists, so if you are missing a drummer my advice is to record a demo without a drum and go gig with just the line up you have or ( with a drum machine) you can play open mike / jam nights and just play a few songs but the important thing is to be gigging with or without a drummer or bassist ( because then you will attract more professional musicians)
if you are playing live you will find it a LOT easier to find a drummer or bassist to join you.
think of the white stripes or the doors , or ministry they all played live without a bassist or drummer.
i know that it might not be ideal but by playing anyway you are making the statement "the show goes on , im serious enough about my music that i will be performing with or without you ( not the u2 song !) "
good luck !

Exactly. That's what I said - just gig without one and one will find you.

how about distribute some flyers around ur town that say "drummer wanted" then include other important details such as "audition days will be sundays, tuesday, & thursdays (or somethin' like that)"... "audition times"... "we're looking for a drummer who is..."

i've got a question, so out of topic but it's been bugging me for days... do u guys consider avril lavigne's, ashlee simpson's, & skye sweetnam's music as rock??? thanks!!!

Me and my friend started a band, we're a duo, and he's the drummer......he had never played drums in his life! But it's working out good. As long as he can keep a beat, it's all good.

they are pop, nothing else, they think they are rock, but if your name=the bands name, then your not rock.

Back in the 70`s when our band was frustrated over trying to find and keep a good drummer, I said the heck with it and let my brother (who was in the band) do all the guitar work and I bought some nice drums (at the time) and learned to play them in a reasonably short time, hence problem solved ! I can still can play the **** out of them but dont have a need to since we are blessed with an incredible drummer. They can be hard to find but keep beating the bushes, if it's meant to be, it will be.

its pop....just pop.....no rock.....anyways, i know a drummer, but he would probably refuse to jam with me cus he's really into metal and he refuses to play anything else.
