Hey Everybody!

Im not so sure that this is anxiety, but it's related to starting a band none the less- As the name would probably imply, I am looking for some people to form a band with me, but I don't know how to find them; I don't know a single drummer, bass, or synth guy and I've looked hard. Everyone just wants to play Lead Guitar and Lead Vocal, and they dont have the honesty with themselves to back down and know they're not as great as they think they are, or even share Lead and Harmony guitar/vocal parts with others... its just "I wanna be the big famous rock star, not you", and it sickens me. Do ya'll guys have any suggestions for what I can do to prod some friends into doing something, or finding some other people? I'm willing to play any part... (except drum, I just plain suck at it http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/frown.gif ). What can I do!? I HATE THESE SELFISH PEOPLE!!!

With loads of ticked-offness,
Phil http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/movingeyes.gif

Hey Phil,
I'll sing vocals, play lead, and star in your band. Where do you live?

Just kidding... Yeah its tough. Us guitar guys are a dime a dozen, but its tough to find good drummers, bassists and kybd players. I'm having the same struggles you are.

There are some message board sites that cater to musicians trying to find each other. I met some guys through one, but it didn't work out.

I recommend forming a clear idea of what you do, what you want to do, and who you need to make it work. In the meantime, while you're looking, keep woodshedding.

Also, are there any open stages in your area? They can be a great place to mix with other musicians.

How's that for a rambling reply?

I've found it pretty easy to find good musicians. The hardest thing for me is finding players who want to play the same music style I want to play and who have the same long-term vision.

I've found that most musicians just want to jam or learn covers. Most want to play live as soon as possible and think more in the short term rather than developing a tight, original sound that has the potential to go all the way. It's hard to find dedicated people who are willing to put in the time to craft good songs.

Anyway, just keep looking and hoping. Everything comes in time!!!

Play at every occasion you can, it's important that other people see that you play the guitar and you're serious about it... Maybe they'll come to you. I played a few school shows, went through some bands that failed and a few weeks ago a player of my second band asked me to join his other band because they needed a replacement for one of their guitar-players, I could even sing there if I wanted (didn't want to do it, brought another guy), I really like it there, there thinking about giving me a permanent spot now, bye bye guy I replaced http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Seems like you just need to have some luck http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/wink.gif
