Reminded of it after seeing the open thread. I played at a gig recently where I was playing guitar for a singer, but she thought I should do one song and sing it myself. Now, I have a decent voice, so that was fine, but the kind of songs she was playing were a bit dull, so I decided to do something a bit different. I got halfway through playing and noticed that people seemed a bit bored, so I just kept on playing and singing even harder. At the end of it, about ten people cheered really hard (harder than they had for the girl I was playing with) and the reast (about a hundred) remained almost entirely silent. No moral to this stroy, but just a funny thing that happened. It's kind of embarrassing seeing people standing and not even giving a half hearted clap. Maybe I should have played something like Mustang Sally instead....

the band i was in played a club packed full of all our friends on night, they went crazy. the owner of another club was there and asked us to play his place 2 weeks later. he wanted twice the $$ to get in and nobody we knew wanted to pay that much for his crappy bar so pretty much nobody went. there were like 15 people there. so we have 2 videos, one with people going really crazy and one where i come up to the mic at the end of a song and say "hello?" to which i get no reply. we had rehearsal videos with more people! this is a crazy business!
