My Dearmond M75 has dead frets on the 13th and 14th frets along the high E string. What fret wires do I need to file down to fix this?
Thanks!

Dead frets? CPR time
Really, do not file down individual frets. This will cause more problems down the neck. Take the strings off, and make sure the neck is as flat as it possibly can be (you may need to do a truss rod adjustment), and then marke the top of the frets with a sharpie. Using double stick tape or glue, fasten some medium (250ish grit) sandpaper to a straight piece of wood. Using this sanding block, sand the entire fretboard until all the sharpie marks are gone. Then with a fret file, reshape the tops of the frets.

Damn, I was hoping for a quick fix. :) Thanks for the advice, though, guess I gotta find some time to do that.

If you just want a quick fix, I had some dead frets on my acoustic and I took a peice of clear scotch tape and cut it real small and put it on the fret. It made it a LOT better. You might have to put 1-3 peices layered on there.

Carbohydrates, are they still dead with a new E string ?
Strings can become distorted with use, and with a very low action, can lead to apparently dead frets.

Well, if it's the 13th and 14th frets, you only need to level and recrown frets 13 to whatever your last fret is. A full level and recrown would be ideal, but it isn't necessary if you're only having problems that high up on the neck. Personally, I'd take it somewhere to have the work done. It's really easy to mess up on fret work.
