im just wondering. How much do you think it would cost to have a kill switch installed?
just a thought.

I have no idea how much it would cost to have it done, but if you can use a soldering iron it only takes a few minutes and a button from radio shack. I put one in my Jackson and it wasnt very difficult at all.

yeah, i imagine it would be pretty easy to do, but how did you get the wire to the inside, or where ever it goes? (i.e. did you have to put a hole in the guitar, or another way?)
i have no idea on how to wire these things, and i have no experience with a soldering iron, and dont own one either.

sorry for all the questions...

What kind of guitar? If it's a strat, you just take the pickguard off, and the pups and pots should be screwed into the pickguard already, making it all easily accessible. Installing a killswitch is probably one of the easiest thing to do, all you need to do is find a schematic for it...getting it professionally done probably wouldn't cost all that much either.

My jackson had 2 volumes & a tone, i changed the wiring to only have 1 volume and used the hole from the knob i removed to mount the button in. That way i didnt have to do any drilling.

why cant things be simple for me :D
i only have one volume and one tone knob. a 3 way toggle, no pickguard.

anyone still have any ideas? this means drilling i suppose. how much would you expect to have it professionally done? theres no way id be taking a drill to it myself, i dont trust myself enough.

You could drill a small hole and intsall a mini toggle or change out the tone or volume pots with one that has a push pull switch as part of the knob. Then, you don't have to drill any holes.

You could put it on the rear of your guitar..... on the plastic plate that cover the control cavity.

lol, i guess that would be easier... but i dont think that would work too well while playing :D

anywho, i guess ill ask my local guitar store if they do guitar mods there...like i said earlier i dont trust myself taking drill to my guitar.

thanks for the input guys!

A kill switch just instantly cuts your guitars output to zero when you flick it.

You can do some creative things with it by flicking it on and off really click. Kind of like Helicopter flutter effects.
