I was curious if anyone has some ideas of some cool guitar stuff to get for the computer. I'm just kinda getting into using my computer for guitar stuff, I just got the guitarport. What does cakewalk do?

Cakewalk is really good and very cheap.

I have Cakewalk Guitar Tracks, the original. I think it's up to Guitar Tracks 3 now, which they call Guitar Tracks pro.

It's basically multi tracking software.
it's like having a digital multi track on your computer.
And it will work with your guitar port.

I find it very easy to use. Really straight forward and designed with guitarists in mind.
It's stream lined and simple. It doesn't have all the Bells and Whistles of the more expensive stuff, but if you are like me and just want to get some guitar tracks down, you don't need all the bells and whistles anyway. So why pay for em?

It also comes with a lite version of Drum Loops. So all you need to do is plug in and strat recording

So it does basically everything? I'm looking for some recording stuff, and drum machine to go with the guitar port. I hate looking through all the "jam" things they have on guitar port, because they dont really have anything i want (i sometimes figure out what kinda drum thing i want in my head, and i cant ever find anythign close to it) I'd rather just mess around with it myself.

If anyone has anything to say about anything they've experiance with this kinda software, plz do tell. Thanks for the info above http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

Yeah it does just about everything (recoding wise) except Bass Guitar. You will need a Bass to lay Bass lines, or an octave pedal to get something basic just to record ideas.

It comes with a light version of Drum Loops.

Basically the way the drum loops work is just like working in a Word Processor.
You just drag and drop the pattern you want into the measure. And than cut and paste it so it will repeat as many times as you want. Than you stick in another one.

It has a bunch of basic standard patterns and fills, plus some single hits. Not bad to get you started. But at some point you will want to get a drum machine or more loops.

So you can only use existing drum sequences, but you can throw them together to kinda make your own drum sequence?

there are several drum loops programs out there that will plug right into N track or guitar tracks or cool edit Fruity loops is one I use a bit. But I don't get real serious with recording. I use it moreas a tool to learn passages or just to practice.

YEah it has pre-set patterns that you can assemble into a song. They are pre-set to a small variety of tempos and styles. Than there are matching fills for each.
The full version of the drum program has more styles and tempos and patterns.

It does have single hits of each drum. So in theory you could build your own patterns from scratch at any tempo. But it would be a pain. If you were going to do that, I would just get a cheap used Boss Drum machine like a DR-550.

I dont think I'll get super heavy into making drum loops and something, but I'd kinda like to have total control over making a drum sequence. I 'd also like it to be pretty easy to do. (I'd like alot of things lol)
So basically I'd like a good computer drum machine that I can record with my guitar port. I'll start checking around on whats available more.

Thanks a ton for the help you've given http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif
