my band is going to the studio soon however after that we are going to want to record at our houses without spending large amounts of cash on a studio.....we have a pretty bad 4 track..heres the problem......we like to record the drums last becasue of the starts and stops in outr music. so tracks 1-3 go off without a hitch.....then comes time to record the drums....we place the mics around the set and place the headphones on our drummer. when our drummer hits the drums the sound from the drums travels through the headphones and drowns out all other sound and in the process kills my drummers ears any advice??? what are we doing wrong??

Ahhhh....dont you love it. We had the same problem and came up wiht our own solution. A rather cheap solution too.

Go to a sporting goods store and buy those sound silencer headphones that people use while shooting guns. Then go to walmart and buy a decent pair of those teeny earphones that fit comfortably right inside the ear. Put the ear phones in, put the silencer headset ontop and BADA BING!!!!

You prolly wont run into this problem, but if he has trouble hearing the drums at this point you can either turn down the earphone level or just throw a little drums into the headphones.

Cheers.
