im going in the studio at college soon, and want a punky drum sound (perhaps with a slight experimental tilt)
i was planning a back-to-basics set up:
akg c1000 stereo pair as the overheads
sm57 on the snare
akg d112 on the kick

i was wondering if you had any other miking ideas/eq techniques etc. heres the equipment available:

shure sm57 x2
rode nt1 x2
akg c1000 x2
rode nt2
akg d112
akg c3000
akg c414
joe meek (not quite sure what model, similar style to the nt1)
audio technica ak825 (stereo mic)

recording through a yamaha o2r desk onto an alesis 24 track hard drive recorder.

I'd double mic the snare.

Put one mic close in with the top head and then use a seperate mic for the bottom head.

When you go to mix, you can adjust the amount of pop versus the amount of snare in the sound of the drum.
