Me and a few friends or going to record a couple of Jams. We have been jamming for a while and decided to record, we mix acoustic and electric and harmonicas, the sound is pretty bluesy but I think we keep it fresh and orignal at the same time. We have a 4track and a digital 64track just wondering if anyone had any tips for levels and other nonsuch.

don't mix with earphones! use speakers. i guess just play around with levels till you get the sound you like. also, play around with the stero sound and what speaker the sound comes out of.

mixing is sort of a personel thing and you just have to do it to what you like.

From what I've learned, I'd say to record at the highest level possible without clipping, and if you are going to boost the signal any after recording, do it early in the mixing stage to reduce noise in later stages. Pan your instruments to cover the stereo spectrum evenly. Pan bass drum and bass guitar to different areas.

why does it matter if you boost the level later in mixing. How does this create noise?
