Joe Satriani tabs

My good friend just gave me the Joe Satriani tab book for Crystal Planet - some songs (Ceremoney for example) are IMPOSSIBLE to play. There's specific sections in there where the speed is INSANE. Now, I haven't been playing for that long, but I hope that within a year I'll learn to play some songs.
Has anyone here played some Joe Satriani songs, and if so, how experienced were you and how long did it take to learn the whole song?
I'm just gonna take it little by little, cause I know the results will be worth it.

i havent heard to many satriani songs, and im too broke to go out and buy and album, but i downloaded "surfing with the alien". thats songs actually not that tough. and ive been playin since about february. i dont know about his other stuff. i currently have about 15 tracks of his on my audiogalaxy download list, so we'll see... i hear that they really are impossible.


if you want to learn some satriani but arent too experienced, like me, try learning surfing. cool song, and its simpler than it sounds.

Thanks skubasteve. I've learnt one of his slower songs (Z.Z.'s Song) but his faster stuff is is pretty much impossible for me to learn right now. But still, I just practice some of the licks everyday and hopefully my fingers will get used to some of his technique http://www.zentao.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif

i like to play satriani, but i usually had to get it by ear. that was until i found my laptop dvd player can slow down the cds and dvds without affecting the pitch, so it just sounds like he's playin it slow. this is great for checkin all the notes are right, takes much less time to figure out too. i like summer song and satch boogie as they have a great groove to them.
