I'd have to hear it, because the few ways of doing it can sound very different.

You can either play both notes simutaneously with your pick and your middle finger.
Use the pick for the top note and your middle finger for the bottom note. You kind of pull the bottom note with your middle finger. Depending on how much gain you are using this technique will sound quite different.

With the right amp setting it can give a very piano type of sound.

The other way would be to play the top note with your index finger and the bottom note with your second finger of your fretting hand. Let the pad of your index finger slightly touch the string inbetween so it's mutes it. Then strum all 3 strings.

Not knowing the song, I don't know which is best. But if you do the mute technique, you will hear a more percussive sound and you will hear the muted note. Because you will hear it, I would think it would be tabbed differently. Like this:

d------------------------------------
d------------------------------------
a------5-5/4---------4-------12------
d------x-x-x--0------4-------12------
a------5-5/4--0------2-------10------
d---0---------0----------------------

Because it isn't tabbed like that. I suspect the notes are played with the fingers, simultaneously and not strummed.

It's part of the beginning of My Sacrifice by Creed. I was gonna ask about what them X's mean in between there, they mean to mute it with ur finger? that correct?

Yeah...I agree with both Spirit and Tomn about the age thing - that'd disqualify myself from the forums, but if that would really help people from stop being so immature and thoughtless...well, it'd be worth it.

And I do still love this forum

I do stuff like that using the pick for the lower string and using my insult finger to do the second(higher) note. It is something you have to work at, but worth knowing, you cannot play any of the country stuff after the 70s without knowing how to do that as well,........
