my buddy has one and im thinking of buying it, i hate how it sounds by it self but when he plays live it sounds great (cuz its in the mix of a band) my question is how much of a difference would putting a MXR 6 band eq in the loop do? lets say the triple rec is a thousand dollars, if i put the mxr 6 band in there how much better will it make it sound? (from 1000-1300, like that)

Much of it I think is dependant on the individual. Some people believe the Mesa is perfect as it is, some people believe it should be EQed a little.
If you're one of those EQ nuts, go for it.

well im not really an eq nut but now that i think of it the eq differnce should be huge because on my studio preamp u can have the eq off, up, or down, and the off to up difference and off to down difference is amazing! the rec already sounds good, im gonna try it for myself

The Trip-Recs onboard EQ, contours channels should give you the sound you are looking for, but it comes down to tweaking every channel to where you want it. It also depends on the cabinet you are using, what speakers are loaded in them, and what type of guitar and pups you are using.
A 6 band really won't give you that much a difference. I would go with at least a 10 band if you really want to change things up.
