I really love playing guitar...and i was looking at this sight seeking guitar players, singers..etc. (everything for a band) I was wondering if i should place an add to start or join a band. I only been playing for a year and a half. But i really love to play and want a band so bad. I can play a few songs, and i made up some tunes of my own. Or else there is always singing, i can sing pretty well, but not sure of it. What should i do? Waii? or go with it?

I think you should go for it, but don't over-sell your abilities. Be honest when you talk to people and be ready to accept someone not wanting to play with you because you aren't as good as they were hoping.

Finding the right group of people to play with is worth the search.

Follow your dreams, there's plenty of time for reality when you get older. And who knows, maybe your dream will become your reality! BTW- There's no reason you can't play and sing.

What kind of add should i put? Should i say, begginer guitarist looking just to jam for now and improve on my skills. Nothing really serious, maybe. But don't expect a lot, just a little talent...does that sound pretty good for an add?

Only if you don't want anybody to call you.

Just keep it simple. Try something like:

Guitarist/vocalist interested in forming or joining a band.

Include the style of music you are interested in and your phone number... that sort of thing.

Leave the details for the telephone conversation. When you talk to people who answer the add, just be upfront about where you're at and what you're trying to accomplish. Things will work out from there.

also, you can do some leg work yourself. Hang out at the local music store, and ask around. You never know where musicians who would love to play are hiding out.
