After many many months (almost a year) I am still infatuated by my Ibanez SZ. Sure I have experimented other guitars, Strats, Super Strats, Les Pauls, and even High end signature models (JEMs, John Petrucci, ect). But I keep going back to the SZ. I am also content with my amp, but through it all something is missing. Any sound I want between this guitar and amp I can get... except one! The elusive neck and neck/mid sound from a strat. That nice Signature strat sound used by many blues artists over the years.
Now one thing I have wanted to do to make this guitar perfict for me, is coil tap both pups. The guitar has two volume and a tone knob so the plan is to switch the volume pots with push pull pots to create 8 diffrent sounds, just with the 3 way toggle (then countless other by changing the tone and volume levels, and then once you factor in the amp... Oh Boy!!)
The only problem is that one of the reasions I love this guitar so much is that it has a signature sound to it. I can only describe it as "being able to hear the wood through the amp".
Now after that rant my question is, if I was to coil tap both pups would their sound be affected at all in humbucker mode?
