a friend of mine just had a weird idea for a pet project -- modifying an ukulele to an acoustic/electric. this isn't really a serious project (it wouldn't be for, like, gigging, or recording, or even really playing very much) but it would be kinda cool if it worked, and if it didn't it wouldn't be a huge deal.

we'll probably buy like a $50 uke on musician's friend but the question is the pickup -- what do we want? it can't be, like, a magnetic pickup of any sort because uke strings are nylon and th pickup wouldn't pick them up. I've heard in my searching to maybe use a piezo-electric transducer pickup, but to be honest i'm not quite sure what that means or how to find one. I mean it seems to be a broad term for a pickup but I don't know how to find one.

Additionally, could these instructions work if we changed them around a little to fit the uke?

it seems like the problem would be the tiny soundhole on the ukulele and trying to get our hands in there to set the dang thing up.

anyway, if anyone can give some advice it'd be a huge help, thanks in advance.

it also depends on what size of uke you ever looking at a tenor would be easier then a soprano if you havent come across this yet. idk much other then that. Hopefully this has helped alittle
