I installed this kit in my Les Paul a few months ago. There was no major change in tone, my guitar still sounds like my guitar. The real change was a bit more subtle, it seems to have "opened" my sound up. It is still the same sound, but it sounds fuller and richer. More harmonics maybe? Either way, I'm happy with the results. The tone pots are no longer useless, and I find myself using them more and more. The volume pots seem to have a better taper than the stock Gibson ones.

The kit was fairly easy to install, although I have had some practice slinging solder before. I opted for the full modern (Hovland caps) re-wire kit, leaving only the pickups original. The factory wiring to the switch was lame. Thin, cheap wire. I used vintage style braided shield wire. It took a little bit of thought to wire up the ground from the switch, but I got it figured out. The guitar seems to have much less noise interference now.

Overall, I feel that it was a good investment, although most of the change probably came from the Hovland caps (made especially for electric guitars), the pots feel much nicer than the stock ones and are much heavier duty (brass wiper, no plastic).

NOTE: The kit is also available with Jensen Paper and Oil caps.

I dont have any pictures of the actual kit installed (I can take some if anybody wants to see it), so here's a pic of the guitar. :p
