I really like the idea of a lyricist section. I just added the 'but' to get attention though. I have a LOT of partial lyrics, most are Christian related, some are love songs, some are questions, some are laments, but all have parts of me in them and I really want to expand on what I've been writing for the past 14 years since becoming a Christian.
Anyone here wanna collaborate lyrically and musically? There is so much awesome talent on this forum that it intimidates me for the most part.
Any input would be appreciated. After hearing what is offered I'll start posting some of the lyrics I have.

Hey T, this might surprise you, but I'm pretty good at metaphor, and I'm actually FASCINATED by Christian imagery. "Amazing Grace" is one of my favorite songs, because I can appreciate its sheer beauty regardless of my spiritual affiliation. Despite being a devout agnostic myself, I've helped my mother (the minister) with the metaphorical wording of her sermons for years. I'd be happy to give you some lyrical input if there's anything particular you're working on that you want to share.

Thank you Mr B. I have a few songs starting out at just being converted from non-Christian to being Christian. And it's those songs that seem to really fire me up. New Christians are really gung-ho about their change of life and I remember what it was like back then, I had, and still have, so many questions to ask God about the life He wants for me (and you) and it just boggles the mind to think of possibilities that are laid out for us.
I'm gonna hafta dig through the suitcases of stuff to find the pieces I had been working so it may be a day or two before I come to that point.

Cool man, yeah I'm pretty good with imagery. I'd be psyched to think I might turn a phrase that would give someone inspiration; even if it's in an area I don't necessarily espouse myself. I'm asking in all seriousness, and with ZERO sarcasm (for once) but would it bother you to get lyrical help on Christian material from a non-Christian? If you don't think it would be appropriate, no offense taken at all. I'm just trying to find a challenge, and I'm thinking I might be able to help you polish up the sentiments that are already coming from YOU; I'm not looking to make my own commentary you know? I'd just like to help dig into some of your ideas and bring out what we can.

The band I'm in right now is a faith based praise project and has some pretty good writers in it. As I watch them work and listen to the previous material I can see their primary interest is in delivering the gospel and giving glory to God in each and every line.
An agnostic and a believer co writing?.....Should be interesting. :)
I look forward to your stuff t.

Hey Lazy, I'm curious, when you talk about "delivering the gospel" are they actually using phrases directly FROM the Gospel and fitting them into song? Or do you mean more in a general way? There are passages of the Bible that are beautifully written; hey it worked pretty well for the Byrds.

I need to check my own posts more often. I appreciate the offer mr b. I write in a more primitive style, meaning it's more from the perspective of a non-believer turned believer. The deeper meaning songs are still a while away for my writing but I'm sure it will seem like it will continue to elude me. What we could do is work on fighting the turn that we all feel at one time or another. Mine came kinda slow and it took me a while to actually feel the need. Many fall into the 'need' to give their lives to Christ instead of just doing it for the sake of doing it. So many actually hit rock bottom and cry out to God for help, and I really can't think of any instance where someone just becomes a Christian unless it's through the processes, or 12 step program a lot of Churches go through until confirmation. Even then many really don't understand that it isn't about the religion, or 'first you do this and then you do this, but if you skip this then the last step doesn't count and you gotta start all over again', and that it truly is about a relationship with God.
So what we might do is have the 'doubting' side and the 'believing' side play off of each other. Kinda 'The Devil Went Down To Georgia' type thing I guess.
I'll hafta find my thinking cap and blow the dust and cobwebs off of it.

Whoa, sorry I took long getting back to this thread Mr B.
Good question. A little of both. I've seen them open the bible in search of the right line.
