I use hammerhead, very good sound and even easier to use. and its FREE :)

Download from here Hammerhead (http://www.threechords.com/hammerhead/introduction.shtml)

also check out the user banks ( different drum sounds ).

Ya, it does.I like all genre's of music, but I wouldnt want a house beat for a hard rock/HM guitar.
but, Kudo's for at least posting the link.
I didn't like the modeling of sound when I tried this program..Too mechanical for me.

I agree, doof doof drums dont suit every song.

Did you try the accoustic user banks? Theres 3 sets to choose from.

Thats all i use and they sound sweet.

You could try Fruity Loops 4. It's unfortunatly not free, but they have a trial version (you can do everything as in the normal version, but you can't save your work), or you could walk the illegal path ;)

The standard version is also very dance/hip-hop based, but there's a very good acoustic kit online somewhere, I use that one too : ns_kit7.

You can find it here :

ftp://ftp.futurenet.co.uk/pub/computermusic/ns_kit/

be sure to take the wav edition 'cause Fruity Loops doesn't support .gig (I think). If you have a normal modem, you better hold on, 'cause it's about 70 Mb. After you have downloaded it, place it in the Data/Patches/Packs directory. You can then see your samples in the Packs list in FruityLoops.

There is one major drawback in Fruity Loops though, you can't do triplets, and you can't change the tempo in the songs itself (unless you do it manually, but that's not a sudden change then), but if it's just to jam to, that isn't a really big problem I guess. What I do, is recording the drum sequences step by step (triplets and tempo changes in a separate file) and then "glue" everything together in Cool Edit Pro 2.0.

Hope this helps you out a bit,
