hey everybody. well first i wanna say that ive been playing guitar for a lil over a year now, and me n my buddy play together sometimes (me guitar, him drums) and he love nirvana! so we play alot of it, but is nirvana really a good band to get experience from? i dont feel like im getting any better, but theres some nirvana songs that i cant even play...

There's nothing wrong with playing Nirvana songs... but unless you plan on being a Nirvana tribute act, you probably should branch out and try songs by different artists.

Branch out as said, but Nirvana stuff is excellent to play live, as nearly everyone knows it.

Knock out the riff to Smells Like Teen Spirit and you'll have everyone in the place jumping up and down :D

lol it sux tho, not mayn poeple around here actually like nirvana =\ . its mostly country and bluegrass.....or punk down here really. (i live in kentucky) is this like a general kentucky thing or is it liek this all over kentucky?!

I use to like a band from there called "Days of the New" and they were not country they rocked IMO. Heard of them?

Nirvana rock, :headbang: they have a load of good songs with some pretty sweet tunes.
Kurt was pretty dam good at coming out with some mellow, hard, and down right inovating riffs, the mans a legend :cool:

dude i live in louisville been playing for 3 years and its not only bluegrass,man there used to be like 20 punk bands from here but that was a few years ago,it is underground but thats the best way....theres a bands called the lords of louisville from here ...they rock........anyways learn some more complicated songs too

well here is a little info on them http://www.daysofthenew.com/index.htm check out the first two albums form left to right http://www.daysofthenew.com/discHome.htm They broke up cause the singer quite and now the band formed a band called Tantric? I dont know if you have herd of them either? Anyways the first 2 days of the new album are worth checking out :D

Try listenin to some other Grunge for example pearl jam have some great guitar work in there songs

Take it day by day man, there is nothing wrong with playing Nirvana songs. Maybe one day, you'll grow tired of playing those songs, and you'll play some new ones, that's it.
