I'd be interested in hearing what you thought of these lyrics. These are two songs I went about writing in a different style to what I normally do - lyrics before music. Never done that before. So I wrote the lyrics, then found some simple chord progressions and worked a melody into it.
SONG #1
My friend he tells me of a letter was sent
Been waiting for news or just a word from the past
He tells me of how the address was unknown
I told him to have faith and his friends to stand fast
These people are expecting a reply to come their way
But none of them understand as they move on everyday
The postman takes his shelter from the thunder in the skies
And when he heads out on the road you'll find him in disguise
I've been told that a parcel is swiftly on its way
Its contents are a secret, but these people it will sway
Delivery's assured, and we're gonna find a change
But I don't know when its coming, and the packaging is strange
When it comes I don't know if it will be just like we thought
I can't say if it will help or if we'll act the way we ought
But this letter undelivered I know for sure will be received
For I stamped the parcel and from my mind it was conceived
SONG #2
When the morning was still black... I heard the rooster crow
I rose without a purpose... but I knew I had to go
In the country lane awaking... I took in the many stars
They spelt for me a message... which just seemed to me to flow
So I buttoned up my coat... and down the country lane
I walked into the morning... though it soon began to rain
I saw a figure standing... and they beckoned me across
With open arms and promises... that they would entertain
So we walked out arm in arm... though it seemed it was a dream
They told me to find faith... but not where it was found
Then they vanished like a charm... my mind must have been broke
I thought it must have been a joke... the way this figure spoke
I turned and headed home... down the country lane I trekked
Didn't mean no disrespect... but I couldn't just connect
I looked up from my thoughts... I'd wandered from the path
Morning darkness closed me in... I must have felt like sin
As panic gripped my heart... I saw the sun arise
The dark began to scatter... as I opened up my eyes
The figure's voice remained... it echoed all around
It was singing in the air... and soaked within the ground
