how do you write lyrics that fit over the top of music and will actualy make sense? is there something im missing help

What in particular do you have trouble with?

Writing melodies?

I find when im having trouble, just humming a tune over a chord progression will help. The once I've come up with a little tune I can write lyrics that scna with the little tune.

Not sure if this helps at all.
