Hi there,

a couple rough lines sort of occured to me today while I was mowing the lawn. The melody is something very slow and airy, kind of Pink Floydy. It would kind of fit the song idea I called "Air On Eeee" on my SC page.

Whaddaya's think?

The sun goes up
And then it goes down
And in between
it draws a frown
on the face of the sky
from east to west
oh, don't ask why
simplicity's still the best

The wisest words
were never spoke
you won't find them
in your tassled book
or in the lines of this song
you can look all you want
but you've been listening
far, far too long

I think it is the start of a good song. Got some interesting stuff there.

Willie_G, can you give us a bit of an explanation of what the lyric means to you?

It seems to me like you are talking to society in general about the way we focus so heavily on technology, and never really find happiness in simplicity. Perhaps implying that a return to nature would be best for human kind?

Do you have any more plans for it? As in.will you be writing another verse or two?

Let us know what your thoughts on the song are, it alwasy interesting to hear the writers interpretation.

hey guys, thanks for the feedback. Yeah, Reags, that's pretty much what I was thinking. I was mulling over the complexity of religious beliefs and how so much of the ceremonies, rules and rituals actually distract from the more powerful and pure image of creation that we can see if we just shut up for a while and observe the natural world around us. There's a list out there somewhere that I was thinking about when the lines begain to occur to me.

I'll check for it, here it is:

Willie G, as basic as the lyrics sound, it can have deeper meaning. It's pretty decent so far.

I don't usually comment on lyrics but I really like this. Its simple yet its underlying meanings touch on some very personal subjects. Awesome in my book.

??? the page wouldn't let me edit. I came up with another stanza today during a run and really just came here to grab the rest of the text because I don't have it saved anywhere else. I didn't realize that a few more people replied. Thanks :)

Um, yes, there's a third stanza now. And I did some rudimentary recording. Finally got a microphone but it'll take me a while to figure it out...

The sun goes up
And then it goes down
And in between
it draws a frown
on the face of the sky
from east to west
oh, don't ask why
simplicity's still the best

The wisest words
were never spoke
you won't find them
in your tassled book
or in the lines of this song
you can look all you want
but you've been listening
far, far too long

So many notes
wafting on the breeze
I wanna grab ahold of one
hang on like a trapeze
swing to the bridge between
the Heavens and our Earth
silence rules the middle (and)
You can finally be heard
