Here is a great example of a Microphonic pickup, and why microphonics are not a desirable feature from a pickup. This is from a 90s Standard Tele bridge pickup I took in for repair.
First I just do some quick strum and mutes. Then I go from tapping on the pickguard, to the bridge to the pickup itself and you can see how the "ringing" gets louder.
The only way to fix this is to pot the pickup in wax or replace it.
I have seen a lot of questions and discussions about microphonics and thought this was a classic example for reference. So if anyone comes across this type of problem they will know what's up. It will also cause horrible squeel and feedback at louder volumes with more gain.
