I wrote this one as I sat in the back of my semi one warm summer's night. I think I was in Memphis.. or was it Omaha? Anyway, I don't think it needs any explanation. I'm interested in hearing any thoughts anybody here has.

It's completely arranged and there is a full recording of a performance, but I made it with my phone in the above mentioned semi, so the quality is poor. I shan't trouble any of you with access to that gem.

close the lights

slow down, you're all over the place
black eyeshadow runnin down your face
my paraffin harlequin -- where you been all night?
my arrow-thin javelin -- straight and true, yeah right
all right
close the lights

[chorus]-
can you breathe underwater?
can you fly with one wing?
do you walk over quicksand?
will you slip into this ring? (this line changes each time)

calm down -- your ideas make no sense
nevermind, it makes no difference
my charletain -- on a whim, you pick a fight
your seraphim -- and it begins to rip behind your eyes
right before your eyes
close the lights

(chorus)
you look lovely in that ring

[bridge]-
don't say a thing
remember me
eventually you will be...

lie down before you hurt yourself
living's bad for your health
stumblin, you're high again -- wound up too tight
my rail-thin mannequin -- girl, you ain't right
all right
close the lights

(chorus)
girl, don't slip out of that ring

(bridge)

free of sin, i breathe you in
you lock me out
let me in your pale skin
don't let me out

[thunderous applause]

Thanks for reading!

I like this alot man. Really nice way to do the chorus too. I liked the way it was almost like a story in a sense.

What genre would it fall it under?

Thank you very much. It's written as a rock and roll song. The recording that exists was done with a distorted guitar at about 120 bpm. Do you write?
