I wrote this song about 6 or 7 years ago when I was at a point in my life where I was ready to make a change for the better. I had been moving a lot with every intention of reinventing myself at every stop, but always ended up slipping into the same pattern. I was embarassed by decisions I had made, and really craved acceptance and respect from my friends and family. I finally got over myself and was able to make ammends. Maybe some of you can relate.

Simple

Looks like I've lost my way again
I guess my head was just too damn big for my feet
I wish that I was everything you'd hoped for
But I'm just what you feared I would become
And your perception has changed
As I have failed you once again

What do you want me to do?
Who do you want me to be?
How can you say it's all so simple
And expect me to believe?

I will cross another county line
And watch my worries fade in the rear view
I can make myself a brand new man
Be everything I ever said I'd be
And your perception will change
And I won't fail you anymore

What do you want me to do?
Who do you want me to be?
How can you say it's all so simple
And expect me to believe?

What do you want me to do?
Who do you want me to be?
How can you say it's all so simple
And expect me to believe?

When you say it's all so simple
You know I want you to believe in me
Believe in me
Believe in me
Believe in me

Looks like I've lost my way again
I guess my head was just too damn big for my feet

I can relate. You should put some music to that and post it in showcase.
Good Lyrics man.

I like that the lyrics themselves are simple too. You're not trying to be dazzling with poetic metaphor and such. It's a simple song about a simple need we all feel to be the best people we can be.

I like these lyrics. Would like to hear the tune.

I just downloaded audacity, so maybe I can put a crude recording together tonight.
Thanks for the kind words :)
