Boss Br-864

Just purchased the BOSS BR864. Looks like a great machine for the price. One question that I thought of after leaving the store. It looks like I have two inputs - one microphone and one guitar/bass. There is also a built in microphone. Does anyone know if I can record via on-board microphone, microphone jack, and guitar jack at the same time? One complaint that I read on musicianfriend.com was that it could only record two tracks at a time, but I wonder if it would work this way for recording three...

Also, is the on-board microphone any good? I purchased a separate microphone, as well.

it depends what sort it is, my zoom 8 track has a condenser mic built in and i assume your boss will be fairly similar, its pretty good for an acoustic guitar in a fairly small room but don't expect it to do wonders, you'll get far better results using an external condenser mic, but if ya desperate like me then it works just fine

I bought the br564 , and it will record ONLY 2 tracks at once max. if you are recording a guitar plugged in, it will only record 1 track. but it will play back as many as 3 while recording that 1.

I love mine, it does great things. You might want to buy the dvd that teaches you all the features and how to use them. The manual is hard to follow, and even after you learn how to use it you will be referencing it.

i have the boss br-8 and its great only has 2inputs tho...i thik you could probable buy a mixer if you need more inputs

The wife bought me the BR-864 for Christmas! and I do love it!!! You can record 2 ch for guitar which is geat for chorus effects and the sort. There is an option to turn the on-board mic off , so it does seem that maybe both the on-board mic and any additional mics would be on at the same time! don't really know - must play with it more! hahaha The guitar effects are great! I must checkout that DVD though! hmmmmm could explain a lot.
