I wrote this one in VA a few months before I wrote Simple, which some of you may have read or listened to here. There's no real significance to (the number) Elevel 13, it's a friend's birthdate and I just threw it in. I may or may not have written it on that day. I really don't remember.

On a more personal note, one of my favorite memories was playing this song at my place after an open mic one night (a bunch of people came back for beverages and such). Someone asked me to play it, and before I knew it there were more than a dozen people singing along to a song that I wrote. Tough to beat a feeling like that.

Eleven 13

It's eleven thirteen and I'm low on gas
But I'm high as a mountain reachin' for the sky
I'm turning' in cirlces lookin' for your face
And the sky is falling and I am falling
And I want so much
I want so much more

It's eleven thirteen and the clock on the wall
Is starin' through my soul
I wanna tear it down and turn back time or stop it for a while
'Cause the cards are falling and I am falling
And I want so much more
I want so much more
I want so much more

Won't you wrap me in more than myself
Point me the right way
Show me which way to go
I might be runnin' from the fact of the matter
But the fact of the matter is I am falling
And I want so much more

It's eleven thirteen, there's only five on my six string
I'm always runnin' behind
But I'm headin' to the mountain a million miles from here
To see the stars as they're fallin' 'cause I am fallin'
And I want so much more
I want so much more
I want so much more

Won't you wrap me in more than myself
Point me the right way
Show me which way to go
I might be runnin' from the fact of the matter
But the fact of the matter is I am falling
And I want so much more

Won't you wrap me in more than myself
Point me the right way
Show me which way to go
I might be runnin' from the fact of the matter
But the fact of the matter is I am falling
And I want so much more
I might be runnin' from the fact of the matter
But the fact of the matter is I am falling
And I want so much more
I want so much more
I want so much more

I never really considered this one to be very romantic... but I suppose the notion of using her birthday could be seen that way. In another life that girl may have been the one, but not this one.
As far as it paying off... isn't that why we all pick up guitars in the first place? ;)

I hear that's why....

but I promise you, its a loss less challenging to sit in a bar and drink a beer...

Really, really nice job, I love the "There's only five on my six string" line. Is there a recording of it we can hear?
