I've always started with runs, scales, arpeggios, and interval work as my warm-up, then move to pieces which exercise my technique. From there I move to the heavy classics before turning to "the icing" -- the stuff I want to play. My warm-up and technical practice takes about an hour an a half a day before I get to spend an hour or a bit more playing what I want.
How about you?

Usually, I use about an hour with scales and such, as you do, maybe playing some tunes. Jamming to some tracks and improvising stuff. After ca an hour, I begin playing what I wanted to play.
But of course, it`s not always I use that much time. But it`s fun :D
Keep on jamming,

I usually have my acoustic next to me in the living room, I'll sit and play whatever comes up while watching ESPN or something nature or history related.
Here in the pc room, I have the electric on a stand and ready to go. Will play along with posts in Showcase, or work on one of many collabs goin' on, jam to one of the hundreds of backing tracks on th pc.
No structure, no agenda, just playin'.... ....anything other than that it seems like work, I hate work.

Mine is similar. I work at home and have guitars available to grab at anytime in 3 different rooms. When I take a break from coding I usually pop in here and read a few posts. If I come across something that I can use, I usually grab a guitar and try it.
Other times I might pick one up and run scales or chords or what ever. By the end of the day I'm usually warmed up enough to sit down and just play.

I just kinda play what I like to play....
I played piano from age 6 to 22 and wasn't "great" at playing piano (I always did well with composing/song writing)... finally, I just decided to sit at the piano and have fun, and I got much much better.

Almost the same here, only my acoustic is still in its case :) I don't play to much downstairs these days.
