Hi..what are triplets?and what do we mean by 2 vs 3 or 2 vs 4 polyrythms? i had been looking over but could not really grasp the concept..a less technical definition would be helpful...thanx in advance

A triplet usually refers to an 8th note triplet- though it can be done with note division.

The idea is to fit 3 notes of the same value into the space where two would usually be. This means if you had 2 eighth notes, if you wanted 8th note triplets it'd be the equivalent of playing 3 notes, evenly, in the space of those 2 eighth notes.
