Just wanted to see if anyone had Guitar Tracks Pro by Cakewalk.
I've been using the software for a little over a year (Guitar Tracks 2 right before this one)

I wanted to know if anyone had any knowledge of cool things you can do or problems you have with stuff. Let me know if you have any tricks.

I have Guitar Tracks Pro 3 and really like it. It is easy to use and works great. 32-channels and each channel can be assigned to its own input device. Being able to assign each track to a different input device is really great if you have mark of the unicorn (motu) device with 12-24+ lines in and out. You can run thru a mixer that has has a line out for each channel and individually run into each input on the MOTU. The MOTU output can all go thru one USB port into the PC. On the PC with GTP 3, you will get multiple input devices under the USB device port that can be assigned individually to each track in GP3. That is really slick if you want to record mic'd drums, bass, keyboards, guitar and mulitple vocals at the same time and capture everything on separate tracks.

Oh yea, and the WAV and MP3 encoders work great. I really like the sound quality of the software and the effects are decent as well. I generally try to get the sound I want without having to do much (if any) mix master mumbo-jumbo voodoo magic in Cakewalk, but there are some really cool things you can do with mixing and layering and adding depth by replicating tracks (or portions of tracks) and then adding effects to the track snippets or to entire tracks.

anyhoo.... I like Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro 3.

on the down side, occasionally, GTP3 will create a conflict for microsoft media player, but I just need to shut down GTP3 and it clears up. Also, sometimes memory on the PC can get a little scrambled after using GTP3 for a few hours of recording and mixing. When that happens the MP3 and WAV encoder does not work right so I need to reboot the PC. Not a big problem though. I have never had a problem with the software locking up or causing work to be lost as a result.

...hope that helps.
