So Cold

This is the last song from the band demo. I should rename it "I am So SICK of this tune " i recut the guitars several times, and have mixed it about 5 times and am DONE with this tune. I appreciate any comments, critiques and opinions.
i used my les paul for the guitar panned left, and my Ibanez for the guitar panned right. for the solo i used my Ibanez as well. The bass and drums drive this tune, and i just tried to add to what they were doing

Holy ****!!!

Damn it sounds good. But since you asked, the only thing that sticks out is it seems SUPER bass heavy. I know you said they drive the song, but it seems that there is a TON of bottom in this song (I'm also listening on crappy pc speakers). It doesn't sound "bad", just that that stuck out to me...

On another note - what is the "clicking" from the bass player? I've noticed that with our bass player on a few of our recordings..even live.

i thought i might have mixed it a tad too bass heavy as well.
the clicking is bare fingers on the strings. Mike pops the strings,as well as pulling on them. its a COOL effect

A solid song for sure Scott.

I hear you on the overdone over dubs. The mixing frequencies are a bit off though.
Bass and Bass Drum are where they should be, but the highs and mids for the snare, hihat, toms and cymbals have a flat zone to them. It's like there is no "crispness" to the drums.

The lead was a tad loud but can always be turned down.

When everything went clean before the lead, the bass guitar had a nice clean grunt to it and the guitars sounded clearer as well.

Me thinks that there is some over compression going on. It's like the entire song, or at least the drums are over compressed or clipping a compressor lined up for the drums.

Great guitar tone though. Loved the scooped mids and bass added to beef up both guitars.

thanx very much for the comments and suggestions keith. i may let this sit a few weeks and remix it one more time.
i agree about the drums, i was 'ear tired' when we cut this particular track and didnt catch the drum EQ. i mixed the drums to two tracks and panned them L and R and when i mixed i boosted the mids and highs on the drums to the max,and dropped the bass frequencies on the bass but i think they are still fighting for the same space.
