Art and Lutherie?

My friend is trying to sell me an Art and Lutherie for about $300.. he said that it was worth some $1000 dollars but got a deal on it. I can hardly believe it.. and it sucks that I might be getting suckered by my friend. How much are they worth, typically. Are they even in that range? I personally hadn't heard of them (and google provides sparse results).

Art and Lutherie are made in Québec/Canada, own by Godin guitars. Same factory make Norman, Seagull, Simon & Patrick, LaPatrie, and of course some Godin models. As far as I know, there's no $1000 models made by Art and Lutherie. But the model's name or number would help to know more.

The most expensive is $409 (CAD!) with a pick-up.

Is it really a friend?

He said that the place he got it from (Music Depot, not sure how big they are, at least a small chain in south east US) had it for over $1000 at the time, and because he "knew the guy," and traded some stuff in, he got a deal.

So yeah, he's full of it >_<

A and L is the "Value" Line of the Godin Guitars. That means they are less expensive, they are nice though. That is way too much considering you are not getting the warranty.

It could be your friend is just an idoit and paid too much himself, not really trying to rip you off, just passing along his bad buy. I would just pass it up or maybe offer him a $100. It's not a bad guitar probably but it's not worth that much IMHO...

I paid around $425. for my A&L cedar 12 string, and the local music store has a matching 6 string on sale, marked down from $369.00 to $285.00cnd . If it's a cedar 6 string I'd give him a couple hundred for it, if not, give him around $100.00

I have an A&L acoustic electric with a cutaway I bought for $385. VERY NICE!!!! To my knowledge there are NO models anywhere near that expensive. This guy's trying to screw you.

How do you like your A&L 12 string? I was considering getting a 12 string - I like my friends A&L six string so mayhap it'll be good?
