Welcome. My name is Dawn (also known as CC and CyberCobre on JSGuitarForum.com). I own the joint, along with Stone (StoneDragon), the guy who founded Jam Session a LOOONG time ago — years…a whole decade, at least. …But I don’t RUN the place. That’s up to the guys and gals you’ll find listed on our Who’s Who at Jam Session page.
So what’s THIS Guitarist’s World Showcase now? Well, we really have a LOT of excellent JS member guitar players, past and present. And they REALLY deserve a spot to show off to the public, spotlighting them for the world to see, hear, and appreciate. Maybe even buy one of their songs or an album.
HISTORY
Jam Session was originally located on a shared server, then it got a directory on zentao.com, our main website. Then we moved it to its own sub-domain. As it got larger and busier and bigger and “huger,” we moved it to its own domain, and, ultimately, to a private server.
Today, Jam Session isn’t quite as busy as it has been historically, though it ranks right up there on the major search engines and gets A LOT (and I mean millions of hits per day) of traffic. It isn’t as busy because we’re tighter about who gets to be a member. And membership DOES have its privileges, believe me.
Is Jam Session free? To members, ALWAYS.
SO WHAT ABOUT THIS SHOWCASE?
Well, if you’re a Jam Session Guitar Forum member in good standing — a regular, at minimum — you can submit your promotions, CDs for sale, sound files, videos, buy links, and images, along with your promo- copy ALL FOR FREE. That’s all there is to it.
If you’re not a JS guitar forum member, or don’t hold “regular” status or, worse, fail to qualify as a “member ingood standing,” then you can submit your stuff, but, a, it will cost you $10 per spot, and it is all subject to approval by Keith and/or Sixstring, the JS managers. The good news is you can submit your stuff, get an answer, then pay, not pay first, then hope.
